Happy NaNoWriMo!!!

Hello, November!!!  The month of elections (I'll be glad when it's over), Thanksgiving (I can almost taste the lefse now) and writing.

Indeed, it is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), and naturally, I'm participating.  I started my latest novel last November, quickly wrote 22 pages and then walked away from it.  I'm counting on NaNoWriMo to be the kick in the butt I need to keep going.

I have set some mini-goals for myself in terms of participation in NaNoWriMo.

- I will spend at least five hours each week on my novel.  Those five hours can be all at once or over the course of a few days.

- By the end of the month, I will have at least 200 pages completed.  That might sound like a lot to a non-writer, but for me, that's completely doable.  The story I'm working on right now has the potential to be at least 300 pages long.  I would really like to finish it before next spring.

Those goals are simple enough.  Now, I just have to stick with them.  I'll keep you updated on my progress.  Of course, my beta readers won't need to look here.  I have about a dozen people on an e-mail list who receive regular updates, or at least they did when I was still writing.  Well, if any of you are reading this, you can look forward to weekly additions.  Hope you're ready. :-)

  1. All this time I've been trying to figure out what NaNoWriMo was... thanks for clueing me in! I never really considered writing a novel before (well that's not true, I tried when I was a pre-teen) but you never know!
