Music Monday: Superbowl Halftime Show Edition

I didn't particularly care about the outcome of yesterday's game, but I knew everyone and their brother would be talking about it, so I turned on the Superbowl for background noise while I wrote, caught up on my Google Reader and chatted.  The halftime show was quite a polarizer -- some people loved it, a few people liked it and a lot more people hated it.  But that's pretty standard.

I don't think any act would make everyone happy.  Someone on my timeline tweeted that he wanted to see Eric Church do the show.  Um.  No thanks.  Someone else asked for Kanye and Jay-Z.  Again, no thanks.  I'd love to see my favorites out there on the national stage -- a little Matt Nathanson, Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers, Tony Lucca, etc. -- but a lot of people would hate that.  Seriously.  There is no sure crowd pleaser.

The Superbowl XXXV halftime show is and will probably always be my favorite.  I think the reason is obvious (if you know me at all).  That's right, it's because of *N Sync.  And Britney.  Oh, and Aerosmith, Nelly and Mary J. Blige were in it too.  Amazing performance.  And, for those who complained about Madonna's lip synching this weekend, my boys actually sing in this one.  So there.

  1. It was so weird to me that Madonna, who has like, an ego the size of Cleveland, lip-synced the ENTIRE thing. I mean...why even perform?
