Life right now

It's the middle of the first full week back to work since mid-December.  And it's really not a true full week for me.  We will be getting out early Friday for our holiday party.   I know, it's January, but I think having it after the holidays is actually better.  December can be so crazy busy.  I'm looking forward to a good dinner, bowling, and getting to know some of my new co-workers a little better.  I've been there a little more than a month, but there are still a few people I only know by name and face.

Besides work, I've been so busy spending time with friends, keeping up with my sports teams, reading, getting back into a fitness routine, and meeting some new people.  Life is pretty good right now.  I have absolutely no complaints. Except for maybe the shortage of cash and the cold temperatures we had earlier this week.  But those will be remedied.

With everything going on, I decided to let you get a glimpse into my brain this week.  Don't be scared.  I promise there's nothing bad in there.  Well, there probably is, but I'll keep that to myself.

Currently ...

Reading: "Quiet: The Power of Introverts In a World That Can't Stop Talking" by Susan Cain.  I just started it but it comes highly recommended by two friends. I'm anxious to dig deeper.

Listening to: I am ridiculously hooked on Nathan Angelo's "Out of the Blue" album lately.

Loving: The fact that the Iowa State Cyclones Men's Basketball team is 14-0 and ranked #9 in the nation.  And last night they knocked off #7 Baylor by 15 points.  It's such a fun season so far! And I might add that I have worn the same shirt for every single Cyclone game this year.  It's only weird if it doesn't work, right?

Worried about: My sweet furkid, Casey. She has been scratching a lot lately (to the point there are scabs on the back of her neck) and shaking her head.  From what I've read on the interwebs, this could be anything from ear mites to fleas to a food allergy.  I'm going to give her ears a good washing regularly over the next few weeks before I take her to a vet. Poor baby.

Wishing: I could have another Scratch Cupcake.  I went to the cupcake and beer pairing event at a local establishment Monday night and had a delicious fluffernutter cupcake with a glass of Tallgrass Brewing's Vanilla Bean Buffalo Sweat (sounds gross, tastes yummy).  I want more.

Looking forward to: The Valentine's Day Blog Swap that Kristin and Meg are hosting. I love shopping for other bloggers and receiving goodies in the mail, so you better believe I signed up.

  2. I love having holiday parties in January-- it gives you something fun to do in an otherwise kind of boring month! And the book Quiet looks fascinating, especially for me as an introvert in a very extroverted world.
