What I've been shopping for

I've been doing a lot of window shopping online lately.  You know how that works, right?  I go to web sites, put things in my cart and then log out of the site without actually purchasing the items.  It's the best way for me to do stress shopping without actually spending money --- because I really can't afford anything unnecessary right now.

That said, I thought I'd show you what I've been putting in my virtual shopping cart recently.

Workout clothes

Warmer running days feel a long way off, but that doesn't stop me from dreaming about them. Running shorts are pictured above, but I've been looking at more -- pants, tights, tops, socks, shoes. What can I say? Cute clothes make it more fun to work out.

Jewelry

I'm so jealous of the girls who know how to do statement necklaces well. I love them, but I don't know how to pick them out or how to wear them. Maybe I'll learn when I grow up.

A lot of the girls in my office look like they stepped right out of a J Crew catalog. It's really intimidating -- not only do they know the job better, but they look cuter while doing it. I often feel frumpy and ugly next to them. But I can't afford to dress like they do ... and I would look silly if I tried. I still wish I had a style though. Help!

Fresh cat food

I saw this in a store the other day, and I was intrigued. My cats are considered seniors now (sob), and I'm trying to think of their health more. One of my cats is a little overweight (but don't tell her that), and I want to help her slim down a little without depriving the other cat. I'm thinking maybe this fresh food could be a solution.   Thoughts?

Do you "window shop" online?
What have you been shopping for?

  1. I just bought more shorts from Old Navy. They were like $6 online, I love their shorts, and I couldn't pass them up.
The easiest way to change the way you dress is just to change it. Alaska caused me to dress quite frumpy until around 2012ish and I just started wearing leggings and boots and skirts all the time. You can't go wrong with that! Of course, I also don't shop at JCrew because I'm not rich :)
We started buying a more expensive organic dog food…we got it once and he liked it (though this dog ate a phone book the other day so I don't think his tastes are very discerning), and we figured we've put a lot of time and money into this animal. We might as well take care of him, you know? I think the fresher food is worth it!

  2. I "window shop" but then end up buying it so it's dangerous. Ooops.

I'm debating shorts for soon... however shorts always bunch up on me so that's never fun, and I've bought enough shorts that I hate wasting money.

My cat is on Nutro Senior (sniffle), and has been for months. It's not as fancy as her old stuff but it's been keeping her healthy for the last 3 years so that's good.

  3. I LOVE window shopping - well anything to do with shopping but since I'm cutting back the budget this year, window shopping helps to really research my purchases first. I work in a nice office and have found that Banana Republic has really pumped up my wardrobe to fit in with my nicely dressed coworkers. I work a few blocks away from a store and I swing by once a week or so when I need to get some fresh air and get away from my desk. It might sound bad, but the people there totally know me now, and my style, and give me tips on when it will be going on sale since full price Banana is often out of my budget. I highly recommend becoming friendly with your favorite store's employees to get the inside tips :)

  4. Micah, have you ever looked at ThredUp? I love stuff from the Limited, but I hate paying full price. Most of the stuff is so gently worn it looks brand new. I've been very happy with every purchase I've made there. :-)

  5. My cats are both seniors (17 & 8.5) I would buy the fresh cat food, but I think Craig would hate it for them. He thinks they are spoiled as is.
