It's felt very fall-like around here for some time. Actually, we had a really mild summer. I probably only ran my air conditioning for three weeks total. If that. It was lovely ... although it makes me slightly nervous about this winter. But I'm trying not to think about that and instead just enjoy the nights of sleeping with the windows open and not getting into a sweltering hot car at the end of the day.
As I mentioned on Tuesday, fall is almost certainly my favorite season. I'm looking forward to enjoying all that comes with the season.
Here are a few things on my to-do list:
> Carve pumpkins.
I did this with friends last year and it was so much fun!
> Go to a high school football game.
I love prep sports. Especially football. Probably because I was a team manager for my high school football team so Friday night lights always take me back to my teenage days.
> Tailgate at an Iowa State football game.
This season almost certainly won't end in a bowl bid, but that doesn't mean we can't have fun along the way.
> Participate in a Turkey Trot or a race around Thanksgiving.
For the last few years, I've found myself jealous of people who do a race before indulging in a holiday meal. Time to get on it.
> Go to an apple orchard or pumpkin patch.
I'd prefer the orchard since I love apple cider as much as most people love pumpkin spice lattes. But I'm not going to get too picky.
I think this is plenty for my list. I don't know if I'll have time for much more anyway between my half-marathon (in just over three weeks) and National Novel Writing Month (November).
What's on your fall bucket list?
Attending a football game and a fall festival are on my list too. I feel like I would cut myself trying to carve a pumpkin, though I always love how they turn out.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to an apple orchard, and I'd love to do it too! And Donny's doing a Turkey Trot in Fort Worth this year if you want to come down and run with him. ;)
ReplyDeleteThose are great things to put on your to do list for fall. I feel this weird pull to decorate and do ALL THE HALLOWEEN STUFF this year. Maybe it's because I'm dating someone with kids and I want to do all those fun things because I haven't gotten to do them since I was a kid...
ReplyDeleteI always do something with pumpkins (either carving or painting) with my friends/family and we always have such a great time.
ReplyDeleteAnd girl, yes, I feel you on feeling jealous of those people who run a Turkey themed 5k! I was hoping to do one this year but we are traveling and there's not one nearby (that I know of). The woes of a runner.
I love fall activities! You have a great list. I'm going to an apple farm/distillery soon, which is something I've never done before, so I'm excited! I also want to go to my high school's homecoming game with the kids. It'll depend on the weather though.
