Feeling like a failure

I've been feeling a bit down lately.  Really, I've been feeling this way for quite a while. I've just gotten pretty good at hiding it for the majority of the time.

Nothing in particular has happened.  It's more like a culmination of factors that just add up to me feeling very lost and uncertain about my life.  And a bit disappointed.

I thought I'd have things figured out by now.
I don't.

I thought I'd have my life together.
I don't.

I thought I'd be successful ... at something.
I'm not.
It's not a fun feeling and I'm still trying to figure out how to dig out of it.

In the meantime, here's a graphic from Pinterest that makes me feel a little better.

  1. I'm so sorry you're feeling this way! I seem to get in a slump like that once or twice a year. It's hard to get out of! Thinking of you. :)

  2. I'm sorry you're having a hard time. I go through these feelings too. I hope you'll start think of some of the great things you have done and realize that you are NOT a failure.

  3. I hate that you're feeling this way - but it won't be like that forever! Just keep moving forward in your life & one day you'll look back and think, Wow I really have my ish together. When did that happen?!

Like Karen said, whenever you're feeling down about everything & nothing, make a list of all the great things you have done or are really proud of, it'll boost you up. Here's one thing I KNOW should be on that list - half-marathon training. That is intense & a time commitment and you're doing it. Not everyone can, but you ARE. That's phenomenal. Also, dude - a published author?! You wrote a book. A freaking book. That is some serious awesomeness right there.

Also, more than those things - you are funny, you are kind, you are spec-fuckin-tacular - and that's exactly what I get from you with every interaction we have.
