Stuff & Things 6/4

Kristin's Knook

:: Thanks to all those who offered kind words after yesterday's novel.  The comments really did help, and honestly, just writing it all out helped give me a little more peace with the whole deal.

::  Remember that beer I made with friends in April?  Well, it's finally done fermenting.  After a month.  We were a little afraid to taste it, fearing it was infected or ruined.  But we braved a few sips and discovered it tastes really good.  We bottled on Saturday, and Pajama Pants Double IPA will be ready for consumption in about ten days.

:: Every time I wear this headband from Charming Charlie's, I get a ton of compliments.  I wish there was a store closer to me. I'd probably be broke, but at least I'd be well-accessorized.

:: You all know I'm an Iowa State fan, right?  So, clearly I have all kinds of feels about Fred Hoiberg leaving to be the coach of the Chicago Bulls.  On one hand, I'm really sad to see him go. I loved what he brought to Cyclone basketball.  On the other hand, coaching in the NBA is his dream, and I can't be mad at people who chase their dreams.  Good luck, Coach Dreamy! (Related: I may now be a Chicago Bulls fan.)

:: In happier sports news, the Texas Rangers are pretty fun to watch these days.  Top prospect Joey Gallo made his major league debut on Tuesday night and entered the bigs with a big hit. His first home run was a towering shot to the upper deck in right field.  Wow!

:: A few weeks ago, I was sharing my dating history (or lack thereof) with a newish friend.  Her response, "Have you thought about going to church? Maybe there would be more options there."  Sigh.  Fortunately, my brain was working that day and I quipped, "I really don't think that's a good reason to go to church. And I like to think that decent, relationship-minded guys don't just live in churches. I mean, they have to be other places too, right?"  I know she meant well, but geez.  I think I'm done talking to friends about dating.

So what's up with you this week?

  1. How cool that you made your own beer - how fun! My husband has thought about doing it but I don't think he has the patience to let it be for awhile to create itself.

Good luck with the dating scene. Its hard and its hard being the friend of someone who has re-entered it too, especially when they meet some really great people and they don't want to date them for the silly things. If you visit my blog, you'll be able to read my entry from yesterday about that topic. Its quite interesting.

Stopping by from the link up :)

  2. haha to the church thing. If I mention a concern to certain friends, they've asked, in the past, if I've prayed about it.

  3. That headband is super cute!

It wasn't until I decided to look outside of my church that I found someone great that I really love to be with. Funny how that happens.

And yeah, the Rangers are doing really well the last couple of weeks. Giving us a run for our money!

  4. I lived at church for 5 years and never met anyone to date. I am not sure that is a good dating scene. Maybe it is just my church but it is full of married couples. Nothing more annoying than a lot of happy Catholics having tons of babies to make a woman feel like a complete failure in God's eyes. Okay that was just me. :)
