Stuff & Things 3/31
How is it the last day of March? Seriously. Where did the month go? Don't get me wrong. I'm fine with a lower chance of snow and ice, and I'm thrilled for the start of baseball. I just can't believe March is over already. I'm also not likely to believe much tomorrow. In that vein, I'd like to remind people that pregnancy April Fool's jokes are not funny.
Yesterday, I spent my lunch hour standing on an interstate overpass to watch the funeral procession of one of two police officers killed in the line of duty last weekend. And I wasn't the only one. On my bridge alone, there were probably 40-50 people, and it sounds like every overpass they passed under had at least that many people as well as fire trucks and ambulances -- all people paying tribute to this public servant. It was a somber yet beautiful thing to see.
Speaking of public servants, yesterday my "brother-in-law" Shay was awarded a medal of valor in his community. In a time when the only police stories we hear are the bad ones, it's important to remember there are good officers out there too. In fact, I truly believe good officers outnumber the bad ones. And Shay is one of the good ones.
I looked at my calendar for the next three weeks. I have exactly two free evenings. Two. Some of my obligations are work. Others are social. Clearly, I'm an introvert with FOMO.
I downloaded Snapchat the other day, but I still don't get it. Someone help me.
I have two races coming up in the next three weeks. I need to get back out running again. Good thing a friend added me to a facebook group for fitness goals. I think it'll really help to have people motivating me and keeping me accountable.
On Tuesday, I asked if anyone wanted to help me do a cover reveal for my next book. I got a few responses, so I'll definitely be hitting those people up as the date gets closer. Self-promotion makes me uncomfortable, so I'll take all the help I can get. And the blog world is a pretty great place to start.
What's up with you this week?

Good luck on your races coming up! I'm on a current running hiatus, so I'm jealous! haha
ReplyDeleteThat's so awesome for your brother-in-law. I agree with you that we don't hear enough of the good stories, and there are a LOT of them out there.
ReplyDeleteI don't get Snapchat either. I can watch other peoples', but for the life of me I can't figure out how to put them together to do my own...
I feel like March started out slow, but the last few weeks have flown by! I can't get on board with Snapchat. I don't need any more social media outlets in my life- I have enough distractions as it is! That's awesome that your brother in law got awarded! There's so much negativity regarding police lately, and it's refreshing to realize there are still great ones out there. Hope you have more fun/social evenings than working ones!
ReplyDeleteMarch went by really quickly for me, too! I had a lot of things going on, which always seems to make time fly by! I can't believe that it's April. Where is this year going?!
ReplyDeleteI hate April Fools' Day. It's like what is the point??? I can get how little kids think it's funny, but adults need to not take part.
