Recently, a pair of siblings I know (roughly the same age as my brother and me) had to decide whether or not to keep a parent connected to machines to keep breathing. I cannot imagine how to even begin that decision process. I wouldn't want my mom or dad (or another loved one) to suffer, but I don't know that I'm any more prepared to say, "alright, let him/her die."
So, what do we do when that decision is in our hands? Hopefully, if these people love me, they'll have told me their wishes for this situation or will have it written somewhere.
I just hope I never have to make that kind of decision. I don't think I could handle it.
