In honor of Mother's Day, I present my five favorite TV moms
(in no particular order):
(in no particular order):
Tami Taylor
(Connie Britton)
"Friday Night Lights"
Not only is Tami beautiful, but she is smart, compassionate and open minded. I loved watching her character evolve from coach's wife to counselor to principal. She looked out for far more children than just her own two daughters, and she did it all with great style.
Lorelai Gilmore
(Lauren Graham)
"Gilmore Girls"
I am currently (finally) working my way through the series for the first time. I honestly don't know why it took me so long to check it out, but oh well. I love Lorelai because she's not a perfect mom. She makes mistakes and she speaks without thinking, but she raised Rory on her own and did a pretty good job of it (except for Rory's taste in guys, which his HORRIBLE).
Marge Simpson
(Julie Kavner)
"The Simpsons"
She has children that never grow up and a husband who's an idiot. The woman is a saint.
Nora Walker
(Sally Field)
"Brothers & Sisters"
After her husband died suddenly and tragically, she learned he'd been having an affair for most (if not all) of their marriage. Her children have faced cancer and addition and survived many of their own family trials. The Walker clan is pure chaos, yet Nora always seems to be the calm in the storm.
Dr. Miranda Bailey
(Chandra Wilson)
"Grey's Anatomy"
I'll never forget the episode when Bailey became a biological mom. But she cares for more than just her little George. In one way or another, she has mothered several of the residents and interns along the way. We saw an example of that in the most recent episode in her talk with Callie. Love Bailey. The show wouldn't be the same without her.
Good picks.
