Looking ahead

Ahh.

A New Year.

We made it to another one!

I know it's just the turn of a calendar page, but it always feels like so much more.  To me, it's a clean slate.  A chance for new beginnings, even if it's really just an arbitrary date.

As mentioned in two lengthy posts, 2011 was awesome.  But 2012 has plenty of promise.

Here are a few things I'm already planning to do:
- Go to Rangers Spring Training in Surprise, AZ, where I will meet up with Lacy and possibly the only two Angels fans I like, Jen and Mayra.
- Go to Rangers Opening Weekend, which includes meeting several members of my dysfunctional baseball family.
- Visit two new ballparks -- Camden Yards and Nationals Park.
- Attend the wedding of one of my college roommates.
- Run at least five 5Ks.
- Start on a screened-in porch addition to my house.

I would also really like to do these things:
- Go to the All-Star Game in Kansas City.
- Go to a Chiefs game at Arrowhead.
- Put new carpet in my bedroom.
- Finish at least one of the novels I have in the works.
- Visit and tour the Leinenkugel Brewery.

I don't really do New Year's Resolutions, but I usually choose two or three things that I want to try for the first time in the year ahead.  Here are the three I've chosen for 2012:

1.  Buy a drink for a cute guy.  Yeah, I'm carrying this one over from last year.  I have no trouble getting a guy to buy me a drink, but I'd like to try being the buyer for once.

2.  Keep a plant alive.  I have the worst luck with green things.  This does not please me or my green-thumbed ancestors.  I need to work on this.  Anyone have a suggestion for an easy plant to maintain?

3.  Ride a bike.  OK, so I've ridden a bike before, but it's been YEARS.  The community in which I live is pretty bike-friendly, so I'm thinking I need to get some wheels and go for a ride again when the weather gets nice.

I'm also going to continue on working toward a healthier me, but I'll talk more about that on Tuesday.

  1. I'm a plant killer as well!! If there was a way to kill plastic plants, I think I could do that too!!

I SO want to go to Rangers Spring Training!!
