Let me get this out of the way -- I am not artistically inclined.
I think I'm creative and writing is my preferred outlet. I'm OK with a camera too, I guess, but my visual art talents are severely lacking compared to several of my friends.
Still, when some friends invited me to join them to paint some pottery at Glazed Expressions, I couldn't say "no." A little girl time sounded like a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
There were a lot of items to choose from -- bowls, cups, statues of all sizes, cookie jars, plaques, etc. It took me a long time to peruse the options. I finally settled on this.
I'm going to put it in my bedroom to collect my spare change.
Then I had to decide on colors. Gah. More decisions? Since I'm putting it in my bedroom, I went with a teal blue and lime green to match.
Pretty, right?
While I was painting, I started thinking about what else I could add to the jar. A lyric about change kept jumping into my head, so I decided to add it.
My handwriting is a little jumpy because I was using a tiny brush, but I think it'll still look fine. High five to you if you know what song that line is from.
I picked up my finished product this afternoon.
Even with the jagged handwriting, I'm pretty happy with it.
It was a fantastic way to spend an afternoon with some fun friends. And I still have a few more sessions on the punch card I got on Groupon, so I'll definitely be going back. Maybe for some glass fusion or canvas painting.
Great job on the pottery piece. I like to think I'm an "All Star" too! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove it!! That's a line from the Smash Mouth song, right??
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to do a pottery class. Yours is cute!
ReplyDeleteLove it!! I haven't painted pottery in years. I went on my birthday with my sister the last time, and I think I did it at school once, too. I have it on my 101 in 1001 list--maybe I'll go for fun one day, or to make Christmas gifts!
