These new shows will be cancelled ...

... because I like them.

I don't mean to be a pessimist, but it's true. See: "My Generation," etc.

Now that I don't have DVR, I try to use my TV (and Hulu) time wisely.  I don't take on a lot of new shows, but I've taken a chance on a few new shows this fall and I love them.  Which means they're probably doomed. Sorry to the other people who like these shows and especially to those who make their livelihood from one of these shows (if they should for some reason find this blog).  I think I'm a curse.

"A to Z"
Christin Milotti is adorable and quirky.  And Ben Feldman is her perfect opposite.
Their friends are a hot mess, but very entertaining.
I think this show displays the reality of relationships starting -- they can be awkward.
Or maybe that's just me.

"Red Band Society"
You had me at Dave Annable. (The sexy doc on the far left.)
But Thomas Ian Nicholas is a delight as well.
This show is really well-written and the characters are likeable.
I'm looking forward to seeing how they develop.

"How to Get Away With Murder"
Shonda Rimes owns Thursday nights.
She can do no wrong in my eyes.
In fact, she's someone I'd love to have lunch with someday.
I feel like I could learn a lot from her.

Are you watching any of these shows too?
What are some of your favorites?

  2. I love How to Get Away with Murder almost better than Scandal. I also like Forever.

  3. I'm so sad that A to Z was cancelled!! It was so cute! And of course, How to Get Away with Murder is amazing. Shonda Rimes is a genius. I do love David Annable from his days on Brothers and Sisters. But I just couldn't get into Red Band Society.

  4. I like how to get away with murder but what bothers me about the show is that the cases get solved in like 3 days. Cases in real life last WAY longer than that, and everything just takes forever, and there is no way that a real lawyer would ever EVER talk like that in court. I mean everytrhing else is totally believable (kids killing someone? of course!) but definitely not the court scenes.

  5. I'm glad I'm not the only who worries that their new favorite shows are going to be cancelled. I have this same worry about Constantine. Two episodes in and I'm hooked, which means based on my previous experiences it will be done in a couple of weeks. O_o

  6. I'm not watching any of these, but I've heard great things about all of them. I especially think HTGAWM will be sticking around for awhile.

  7. I like Red Band Society but I can't figure out if the target audience is teens, adults, or both - some of the things in the show I cringe thinking about my students watching (the cheerleader having sex in the same room with the coma patient), but other things seem boring and melodramatic to me as an adult (Leo kissing the cheerleader at the homecoming dance). I have all of How to Get Away with Murder on my DVR and haven't found time to watch it yet. The new show I'm really loving, but don't see lasting, is Forever, the show about the medical examiner who is constantly dying and coming back to life.
