I'm a week into my new job so I'm trying to get the feel for a new routine. Among the many plusses of my new workplace is the onsite fitness facility. There's a room with machines, a small indoor track, classes, and -- best of all -- wellness coaches. And all of this is free.
The no cost allows me to keep my regular gym membership. And I definitely am. My Fit Fusion classes alone are worth the membership fee.
I really don't have an excuse not to work out regularly.
I have two gyms to choose from and the old outdoor option (running and biking). The key is just finding a rhythm/routine and sticking to it. I also feel like being friends with the work wellness coaches (which is the case with two of them) as well as my Fit Fusion instructor keeps me accountable. They notice when I don't show up. And if you know me, I hate to let anyone down.
Last night, I tried my first BureauFit class at my workplace. It's modeled after CrossFit, which means it was intense. I mean, it's only 30 minutes long, and my workouts are usually an hour long, so I figured I'd be fine. I did complete the workout, but it was hard. But I liked having someone else push me a little, and I think it'll be a good way to meet some new people as well. Winning all around.
Does your employer offer fitness benefits? Do you take advantage of them? Would you?

I so wish we had a fitness center at work!! I think we will in our new building that we're moving to later this year, but nothing yet. It would be so nice to just go for a walk on the treadmill during lunch or take a class after work, or even early morning yoga! I hope your classes continue to go well!
ReplyDeleteThat is so convenient! The hardest thing about my routine is that I have a 30 minute commute each way to work. So that's time that cuts out of my gym routine! BUT on Tuesdays, we have a Zumba class after school. It just seems so much easier and time efficient to be able to change clothes work out in the gymnasium, and head home! In the end, it saves me about a half and hour from my regular routine!
ReplyDeleteI really need to get back to the gym.
ReplyDeleteMy campus has a fitness center and a really nice pool, but it's just not that convenient because I'd basically have to work out on my lunch hour.
