Weekly Reads, Vol. 41
The Frenemy adequately summed up exactly how I feel almost every time I read through my Facebook feed.
Kelly has become one of my favorite bloggers to follow. This week, she has two posts that resonated with me. The first one is about how she defines love. And I love how she described it. The second one offers the main key to eating healthy. It could not come at a better time as I try and readjust my own food intake. It's nothing I didn't logically know, but it's always good to be reminded.
Rape is never a comfortable or easy topic to discuss. Christina opened up about her own experience with sexual assault as she reviewed a book about the issue. I applaud her honesty and am really intrigued to read the book now.
I love manicures, and I know they're good for my nails, but I can't always find the money or the time. I might have to try this at-home nail soak shared by Meg.
One of the most popular pieces of relationship advice is, "never go to bed angry." But I'm not sure that's a good idea for everyone. Much like Sarah, I don't do well with arguments or confrontation. I tend to go silent and can hold a grudge for a long time. So, for me, it might be better to go to bed angry and get some sleep between myself and the disagreement.
Stephanie reminded me that I need to read Gretchen Rubin's new book. I've already identified which tendency I have, thanks to the quiz link on Stephanie's blog, but I'd like to see what all Gretchen has to say about it. Oh, and if you need an excuse to watch more movies, Stephanie also has a great movie challenge slated for the upcoming season.
Alycia got very real and shared how her pregnancy has changed her view on body image. I know lots of mommas who have probably struggled with the very same things.
Looking for a weekend project and a new welcome mat? Nick and Sarah did a great job on one featuring a skyline.
Happy Saturday everyone!

Thanks for the shout out!
ReplyDeleteI don't agree with never going to bed angry either. After a good night's sleep I have a whole new perspective and discussions are much more productive than when I'm heated, emotional, AND tired. We do always kiss and say I love you before bed though, even when we're mad.
I'm pretty excited for the movie challenge, there's a lot on my list that will be out of my usual genres!
ReplyDeleteYou'll like Gretchen's new book. It's similar to her others but definitely a new set of information. I like knowing which tendency I am - hopefully it'll make good habits stick in the long term. Of course, I'm still the one that has to put it into practice, but it's a start at least.
Awweee thanks for the two shout-outs Micah! I love these weekly round-up lists. I've found some new bloggers to follow myself :) Good luck with the food readjustments. They're never easy at first!
ReplyDeleteI loved Christina's post!
ReplyDeleteI also disagree with never going to bed angry. Anger is a productive emotion.
