A year of goals and new things

As I've said many times in the past, I don't do resolutions.  If I want to make changes, I don't wait until Jan. 1 to start. But I do honor the new year in another way. I set goals and aim to try some new things. Check out how I did this year ...

2015 Goals

:: Read 70 books.  - Yay!
I went way past this goal. And I'm not all that surprised. Stay tuned for that recap in the next few days.

:: Pay off all credit card debt. - Yay?
I paid off two. Only two to go.

:: Finish a writing project. -Yay?
I won National Novel Writing month and finished my first draft of that project, but it's not really complete. I'm closer to finishing edits on another work, but it'll probably be another two months before it's ready for formatting. I made progress on another project too.  All this considered, I'm checking this as a partial victory. I was productive, but I didn't actually finish anything.

2015 New Things

:: Visit a new ballpark. - Boo
I went back to Rangers Ballpark and also made another trip to Target Field, but there were no new ballparks for me in 2015.  I'll try to be better in 2016.

:: Make wine. - Boo?
I didn't do this either, but I did make three beers and kahlua with a friend. How's that for a compromise?

:: Learn to knit. - Boo
I got the supplies. I just never got around to the lessons.

+++++

OK, so I did fine on the goals, but not so much on the new things. Oh well. Time for a fresh slate, right? Here are my plans for next year:

2016 Goals

:: Eat at one new local restaurant each month.
I need to get out more, and there are tons of local places I want to check out.

:: Pay off all credit card debt.
I really want to get those off my ledger, so I'm keeping this.

:: Publish a new book.
It's been more than three years since my last work hit the market. It's time.

2016 New Things

:: Visit a new ballpark.
I've started making plans with one of my baseball buddies.

:: Make wine.
I'm going to do this even if I have to do it alone.

:: Learn to knit.
Soon. I will do this soon.

Yep, I'm just repeating the new things from last year.  I WILL accomplish them in 2016.

How was your 2015?
What's on tap for you in the new year?

  1. Why not pull over things you still want to do but didn't get a chance to in the past year?

    I like to make it a priority to try new restaurants.
