Stuff & Things 12/3

:: I thought about doing a vlog for this entry, but then I looked at myself in the mirror last night and decided against it.  I am interested in doing a vlog entry at some point.  But what should I talk about? I could never be as awesome as Matt Bellassai (see exhibit A below).

:: Yesterday was kind of a downer day. Even before the bad news about that horrific shooting in California hit, I was in a terrible mood. It just kind of built all day and then hit all at once. I hate days like that.  Some malbec, a manicure, and a good cry courtesy of "The Family Stone" helped a little.

:: I've finished two days of my Christmas movie advent calendar. I have to say, I look forward to getting home each day to see what my selection is.  This is pretty fun.

:: Somehow I've been roped into helping plan the holiday parties at both of my part-time jobs. Either I come across as a party animal or a good planner. Or maybe they just know I'm a sucker who can't say "no."

:: I'm so obsessed with the Demi Lovato album right now. "Father" is one of the most heart-wrenching, raw, and emotional songs I've heard in a long time. And I'm also really loving this track:

What's up with you this week?

  1. Saying no is a very important tool that has been wonderful for me in my adult life, especially my 30s. That's when I truly grasped it.

A manicure always makes me feel better too. Sorry you had a crap day.

  2. Oh yes--I'm with you on the getting roped into stuff thing. I've started declining when something gives me that panicky "but I don't want to" feeling. The few moments of discomfort that I feel during the exchange are much easier for me to cope with than weeks and weeks of dread. And I totally agree--a glass of wine and a manicure definitely cure my bad days!

  3. Eh, I've been in a mood this week too. A good movie can usually help though!
Good luck with party planning. I avoid that stuff :)
