Weekly Reads, Vol. 72

Wow, I kind of fell out of this space there at the end of the week. My life just got busier than I expected, and I was feeling worn out by the time I got home. I just didn't have the energy to write in this space. And I know some people are good at writing a bunch of posts at one time and having them ready to go, but I really struggle with that.  Plus, I don't seem to have huge chunks of free time at the moment, so even if I wanted to do that, I don't know when I would.  Ah well.

Fortunately, the bloggers I follow weren't as lazy as I was. There were some fantastic posts this week. Here are a few of my favorites.

Everyone and their mother is talking about the Target policy regarding transgender restrooms. I have a take, though I'm not going to share it here. Ultimately, I won't change anyone's mind. But I do like what Sarah had to say about the situation. The people who are berating store employees need to check themselves. The employees have no say in these decisions. I also fully endorse Sarah's stance on promoting what you love instead of what you hate.

I share a lot of posts about the comparison game and self-doubt. I struggle with both of these things, and other people's posts remind me I'm not alone in this. It actually makes me feel better. Jess tackled self-doubt and offered a reminder to take stock of your accomplishments and positive attributes rather than focusing so much on the negative and what you believe is missing.

As an avid music fan and Twin Cities resident, I knew Kati Rose would have a post about Prince. And she didn't disappoint. She did a great job of capturing the feelings and tributes to the late artist in the wake of his death.

I love the way Jen used a "blind date" format to share some of her favorite reads. Check it out and see if any of the candidates appeal to you. Honestly, I've been on a few blind dates. The book version is more fun than the romance version.

As someone who is constantly on the go and working towards various goals, Joey's post, "The Importance of Pacing Yourself," really spoke to me. The running analogy worked for me too. I need to be more mindful about this.

  1. girlfriend I am NOT that person who has more than one post to go at a time. If I have 2 ready, there must be some sort of miracle happening at that very moment. Once I write one, I'm done using brain power for the rest of the day :P

Thanks for including my post!! I'm glad you agree, I just don't understand yelling at someone who is just following the rules they've been given!!

  2. Thank you for your kind words and inclusion in your weekly best Micah! I ma happy I was able to attempt to sum up the experience in hopefully a poignant way for those Prince and music fans who couldn't be there in person.

  3. These are some really great posts. Especially that one from Sarah. I wish people were kinder and less hateful.
