It's OK Thursday

Its Ok Thursdays

It's OK ...

... to be really sad about missing a Tim Stop show tomorrow night.
I haven't missed a Central Iowa Tim Stop show in almost three years.
But I just can't make it this weekend.
If any of my friends go, can someone please concert call me. Thanks and hugs.
Here's a video to tide me over (especially since it's one of my FAVORITE songs on his new album),
And I never turn down an opportunity to put in a plug for him.

... to really enjoy being a part of the student-dominated pep band.
Sometimes, the disorganization drove me crazy, but I had a lot of fun.
I hope they don't kick the old people out when they become a legit student organization.

... that I've been really bad about going to sleep at a decent hour all week.
I could blame pep band obligations,
but my inability to ignore e-mails, texts, etc. contributes as well.

... to twitter flirt with guys who are ten years younger.
That's OK, right?

... that my work inbox has 200+ emails in it.
I really need to go through and delete the ones I don't need anymore.

... to eliminate people from my life who only make me miserable.
Life's too short to keep those people around.
I'm not saying everyone around me has to be a cheerleader,
But a little kindness goes a long way.

... to realize I sometimes punish people because of my past.
Experiences I had when I was younger have really hurt my ability to trust people.
Getting past that means making myself vulnerable, and that's a really hard thing for me to do.

... to be so ready for a relaxing weekend.
Zumba, ISU basketball and lots of writing are on the agenda.
Maybe a little Sims 3 time too.

What's OK with you today?

  1. Just being okay is okay with us today.

I think one of the most powerful things you wrote was being okay with realizing that sometimes you "punish" people because of your past. I think this is so powerful for several reasons. First, I think that acknowledging this is wonderful and something not everyone can do. I have great respect for your ability to do this. Second, I wonder if "punish" is really what you're doing. You're living and those people who love you know you and know that part of you that makes it harder to trust. That's okay too. Those past experiences have made the kindness and generosity that you share on your blog (and I'm sure with others) important and wonderful too.

    Happy seeing beautiful!

  2. My work email inbox is very similar to yours. I need to go through mine. But I'm lazy. :)

Sounds like you have a good weekend ahead of you, good luck with the writing! I always have ideas for stories, but can never seem to put them down on paper. I can think of characters, I just have a hard time figuring out a good plot. Maybe I can learn from you!!

Spring Training is upon us- wahoo!!

    :)
