WLJ: Walking & frozen lemonade

I spent a lot of time contemplating my August Fitness Challenge.  I didn't do so well in June or July, but I'm not ready to give up on the monthly challenges just yet.  As I was racking my brain trying to come up with something, I read Monica's goal over on Run Eat Repeat -- walk three miles every day (on top of her usual workout).

I can totally do that.  It takes less than an hour, and I can find an hour in my day. Even if it means missing the first inning or so of the Rangers game.  Even if it means getting up early.  I can find time to walk three miles every day.  And this trail makes it easy to want to get out there ...

I might miss a few days when I'm out of town, but I can't see that being more than three days.
I can do this.

The other day, I was craving a frozen lemonade. So bad.  I drove through Burger King hoping to feed that craving, but they were out of frozen lemonade.  I got an iced tea instead and was OK with my consolation choice.  But I still wanted a frozen lemonade.  I decided to try and make one at home, and the result was tastier, healthier and cheaper than the one I would have gotten at BK.

Frozen lemonade

Ingredients:
Crystal Light lemonade packets (2)
Two cups of water
Two cups (or an entire tray) of ice

Directions:
Put it all in the blender and mix. Pour into your favorite 32 oz. tumbler and enjoy.  Or share it with someone, if you are feeling generous.

Price --  $0.40
Calories -- 20
WW pts -- 0

By comparison, here are the stats on BK's large (20 oz.) frozen lemonade:
Price --  (I can't ind the exact price anywhere, but the small starts at $1.99)
Calories -- 100
WW pts -- 3

OK, so the difference isn't huge.  But I'll still take 0 WW pts over 3.  Especially for a larger size.

Weight-loss goal: 40 lbs.
This week's progress:-1.4 lbs.
Progress to date: -32 lbs.
Non-scale victory: I took advantage of a sale on athletic shoes and the sales tax holiday last Friday and bought some new running shoes.  They've only gone out for one run so far, but I can already tell the difference in how my feet and legs felt when I was finished.  It was definitely time for new kicks.

  1. I love new running shoes. I'm having trouble seeing ones I like and NOT walking away with them.
I can't believe a BK frozen lemonade only has 100 calories. I haven't had one, but it seems like there'd be a lot more sugar in it.

  3. Your 3mi a day goal inspires me!! Definitely something that is do-able but will take commitment to do. Can't wait to hear how successful you've been with it :)

And I'm going to have to try that lemonade out ASAP!
