It's OK Thursday

Its Ok Thursdays

It's OK ...

... to have brisket for Thanksgiving dinner.
I have nothing against turkey, but I love a good brisket.
We're also having mashed potatoes, orange salad, mixed vegetable casserole, rolls and lefse.
There will probably be wine too.
It's going to be hard not to blow all my WW points today.

... to expect non-family at the Thanksgiving table.
Thanksgiving is about being with special people, and for me that often that extends beyond blood family.
I can't remember the last time we had a meal with just Mom, Dad and my brother.
We regularly invite friends to join us as well.
This year, it's just Jimmy, one of my brother's friends, who I'm considering adopting as a sibling.

... that I sometimes wish I could take my blogger friends shopping with me.
Some of them are so much better at fashion.
Last week, I went shoe shopping, and I could have used some input.
There were some really cute shoes I loved, but I couldn't see a matching outfit in my head.
I bet my blogger friends could have helped.

... to go to YouTube for one video and then get sucked down the rabbit hole.
This usually happens when I'm looking for my Music Monday posts.
I go there looking for one particular song, and end up browsing instead of posting.
I have lost countless hours watching old MMC, 'N Sync and 90s country videos this way.
I regret nothing.

... to be really excited about my plans for Saturday.
Several friends are coming over to my parents' house.
Wine and beer will be consumed while we play Cards Against Humanity.
Maybe I can convince Mom and Dad to play with us too.
My parents are cool, y'all.

... to sometimes answer late night phone calls.
Remember that saying, "nothing good happens after midnight"?
Recently, I answered my phone at 12:30 a.m., and lots of good came from it.
Two hours of good conversation were exactly what I needed at that moment.
And I'd waited three months for that phone call. Patience pays off.

... to think Katy Perry has unusual taste in men.
Russell Brand was a douchebag. I honestly didn't understand that match.
Now she's with John Mayer, and although I'm a fan, he can be kind of a douchebag too.
Ah well.  More power to Katy if it works out for her.
Also, I have no room to talk when it comes to choosing men, so carry on, Katy.

... that I went to a 10 p.m. showing of "Breaking Dawn: Part II" by myself last Thursday.
I have no issue with going to movies alone, and the opening night showings can be a blast.
There were no "annoying teenagers" in my theater. Just good fans.
My favorite part was the audience reactions to various things ...
Awwing over baby Renesmee, cheering when the "good guys" prevailed, gasping at the twists.

... to be a little sad the "Twilight" saga is over.
And I know I'm probably in the minority there.
No, the books weren't very well-written, and yes some of the characters were annoying.
But I got attached to them nonetheless. Even the ones I didn't like.
At least I still have "The Hunger Games" and "Matched" to look forward to.

... that I already have Christmas music loaded on my iPod. All sixteen hours of it.
It's ready for all the driving I'll be doing in the next few weeks.
Holiday cheer makes the road a little less boring.
And I have new music to add to it, thanks to the Holiday Music Mixtape Swap.
Love.

What's OK with you on this Thanksgiving Day?

  2. I so get sucked into YouTube too. And the shoe shopping? I usually don't buy them unless I can wear them a lot...which is why I don't have a whole lot of shoes.I'd prefer Russell to John. Russell is a decent actor. Forgetting Sarah Marshall is one of my favorite movies!

  4. I feel like "don't date John Mayer" should be a cardinal rule for women. I love his music, love him as a writer, and wish I could be his personal assistant who edits all of his quotes before they are published in magazines, but I would never let that man get close enough to touch me.

  5. I have heard so many great things about Cards Against Humanity lately- I want to play so bad! And I always get sucked into the Youtube rabbit hole... usually at work, when I'm trying to find something safe to listen too... oops. Hope you're having a great weekend!
