Happies and Crappies

There is a lot going on in my life lately, so I thought it could best be summed up with this link-up.

The Vintage Modern Wife: Happies and Crappies Link Up

Happies

:: I finished writing my fourth novel last weekend.  I had a self-imposed deadline of September 30, and I beat it.  I finished one day ahead of time.  It still needs a lot of editing and re-drafting but for now, it's done.

:: A friend asked me to be maid of honor in her wedding.  Of course I will!  It's my second time being in a wedding and my second time as maid of honor.  I guess I'm good or something.

:: TV shows are back with new shows.  I'm learning how hard it is to keep up with my TV when I don't have DVR though.  I don't remember what's on which nights.  Thank goodness for online and Hulu.

::  I scored a new thermal lunch bag through a closeout Thirty-One sale earlier this week.  I needed one so badly.  The lunch bag I've been taking to work looked kind of pathetic.

:: Weather permitting, I am doing a Color Me Rad 5K tomorrow morning.  If the rain stays away, I'm excited to enjoy the event with friends.  I fully intend to walk, by the way.  More color that way!

:: I'm also going camping tomorrow.  And I use that term loosely.  Really, I'll be sleeping in my friend's front yard.  It's going to be a cold one (lows in the lower 40s), but perfect night for a bonfire.

Crappies

:: The Rangers missed the postseason this year.  I'm not even mad about how the season went though.  91 wins with patchwork starting pitching isn't too terrible.

:: All the political talk on my Facebook.  Yes, the government shutdown is bad.  It's terrible, actually, as I know people who's pay/employment is being affected.  What I can't stand is all the pointing fingers.  Both parties share the blame in this.  Everyone wants their way and no one's willing to compromise.  Perhaps they should all be sent back to kindergarten.

:: The Cyclones lost to Texas last night. It was a hard-fought game, but the boys committed quite a few penalties.  I don't think the officiating was the best either.  But I'm still proud to be a Cyclone.

  3. That does sound like a perfect night for a bonfire. I'm strangely excited for the cooler temps.

The Pirates are in the playoffs and everyone I know is super excited (I'm not really a baseball fan)...but I live in Cardinal country. It's a weird experience.

  4. I felt the same about my Tribe not winning the Wild Card. It was such a close race for all 3...I was pulling for the Rangers, though! What makes me mad, even though they won 92 games this year after a crappy 2012 season, they really should have kept that Wild Card spot because they were the #1 team, but because of the new playoff game rule they lost it. Sucks.
