I survived a two-wedding weekend

You might have noticed I was a little quiet on the interwebs over the weekend. Well, except for a few instagram posts.  Seriously, though I was a little MIA from social media from Friday through today.  But it was all for a good reason.  Two good reasons, actually.

Over Memorial Day weekend, I served as maid of honor in one wedding and was a guest at another wedding.  And if you know anything about being in a wedding, you know it's not a one-day ordeal.

It all started Friday night with rehearsal and a post-rehearsal potluck. We were also staying in a casino, so we may have thrown some money around down there too.

We didn't get a lot of sleep Friday night. This was partially due to our excitement and partially due to the groom and his buddies pounding on the door a little after 1 a.m.  We were tempted to return the favor when we got up at 6 a.m. the next day to start getting ready ... but we didn't.  There were four girls in our room, but we were impressively showered, dressed, packed, and were ready to leave in a little over an hour.   It was time to get our hair done for the day.

I gave the stylist free reign with my curly hair. I think she did an awesome job.
The bridal party and one of the mothers of the groom. We were halfway (or so) to being ready for the ceremony.

With our hair (and makeup in some cases) done, we headed to the ceremony and reception site to finish getting ready.  There was music, a light lunch, and lots of chatter and laughter as we completed our looks for the day.  There were also some shenanigans as the bridal party decorated the newlyweds' truck.

My friend was a beautiful bride.
We put in some solid work on the newlyweds' truck.

I was ready to start down the aisle.
Then it was time for the best part of the day -- the ceremony and reception.  There are no ceremony photos because people were asked to put their cameras and phones away and be present in the moment.  It was a beautiful ceremony with meaningful music and words.  Pictures after the ceremony seemed to take forever, but I'm looking forward to seeing them when they're done.  Finally, it was time to party.

By the end of the day, I was tired but happy I could be a part of their special day.  Even though it's a lot of work to be in a wedding party, there is also plenty of fun to be had.  I know I enjoyed myself. (Also, I snagged most of the above photos from the bride's mother.)

Sunday morning, I went back to the hotel for the gift opening brunch.  Then I had a few hours before I headed to another friend's wedding a few towns over.  The setting was gorgeous, the bride was stunning, the groom was handsome, and their two little girls were completely adorable.

Obviously, I had an insanely busy weekend. So busy that I took a break from all people and social media on Monday.  I needed it.  Desperately.  Even though I'm still pretty tired from the busy weekend, I'm glad I got to witness both weddings.  Seeing my friends so happy and in love makes the exhaustion worth it.
