Opinions that make me an outcast

Last week, Stephanie at Not Entirely Perfect shared a list of beliefs that she thinks make her unpopular.  I loved the post so much that I shared it in my Weekly Round-Up, and now I'm going to copy it for this week's confessional. Hopefully she won't mind.

Vodka and Soda

I have little to no interest in watching "Breaking Bad."
I have no doubt it's a well-written show, and I respect those who love it.
Maybe someday I'll change my mind, but for now ... I'm out.

+++++

You can keep your pumpkin spice lattes, I'll have a hot cider instead.
I don't hate pumpkin-flavored things in general, but the drink is just too sugary for me.
I know, I know ... I can feel my white girl blogger card being yanked away.

+++++

I prefer having cats over dogs.
Dogs are sweet and loving, but they're also a lot more work than cats.
If I want to go away for a weekend,  all my girls need is food, water, and a clean litter box.

+++++

I would rather go watch movies at home than see them in a theater.
Sure, I have to wait longer to see the film, but most of the time, I'm OK with it.
I much prefer the comforts (and inexpensiveness) of home.
This probably explains why I go to maybe five movies in a year. If that.

+++++

I don't have cable TV, and I really don't miss it.
A few years ago, I thought I would die without satellite channels and DVR.
Now, I have the local channels only (plus Hulu and Netflix), and I'm fine.
It saves me about $80/month and I waste a lot less time in front of the TV.

+++++

If I ever get engaged/married, I do not want an expensive ring or a huge wedding.
Simple and small is just fine with me.
Then again, I don't really ever see this happening, so I probably don't need to worry about it.

So ... how many of you are going to unfollow/block/unfriend me now that I've shared these thoughts?

  1. If anyone unfollows/blocks/unfriends you over your opinions, they should probably see a therapist. hahahah

    I prefer to watch movies at home if I watch them at all...my interest in movies overall has waned.

    I didn't want an engagement ring at all, MFD wanted to buy one. He won.

  2. I am all about the no cable. Hulu covers most of them! Netflix has got the ones I want to binge watch! Seriously it saves us SO MUCH money!

  4. I'm with you on so many of these! I do enjoy a PSL every now and again, but it's not my go-to drink.

  5. I never mind :) I always love to see your take on things! I'm with you on Breaking Bad, and I think everyone thinks I'm crazy. I've watched it, a good chunk of it now. Not all the way through yet but at least 3 seasons in, if not more. And I just don't care. I'm never really wanting to watch the next episode. It's a fine show, but just not one that captures my attention.
    Dogs over cats though ;) I still like cats, I love all animals. But I love coming home to Hawkeye's wiggling butt. She's always just so happy to see me. (I have to admit though, my best friend's cat could give Hawkeye a run for her money - he's as friendly and loving as a golden retriever)

  6. I tried to watch Breaking Bad a few times, but I just didn't like it. It was way too dark for my tastes. Also, I kind of want to get rid of our TV, but I'm also terrified to do it. Lol

  7. I'm with you on Breaking Bad. I'm going to add Scandal and Dexter too because everyone and their mom seems to love those shows, and I've never seen a single episode. I'm cutting my cable this weekend- can't wait to see how much I save!

  8. I think the only one we agree on is the huge ring/wedding! But that's okay. I'll still keep reading because you're still cool. :-)

  9. We can agree on staying home to watch a movie instead of going out :D I have also gone without cable plenty of times and don't really mind not having it. :D

  10. I've never had a PSL and I'm okay with that. Also, I'll take t.v. over movies any day. Movies are too short for me. I like to follow a series.

  11. Movies at home are much more enjoyable!!! And PSL's can be way too sugary--I like regular pumpkin coffee with just cream. I'm not a huge fan of hot cider, tho.... I'm debating getting cable when I move because I don't know if I'll want that or not, but I think I'd miss The Weather Channel too much.... (nerd alert!) other than that, I have Hulu+ and Netflix too so it wouldn't be horrible!

  12. I've always told my bfs that a big ring isn't necessary. 3 months income is a stupid rule ever. I wouldn't even spend that on me, so why should anyone else?

    To validate your Breaking Bad confession, I suffered through 3 seasons and finally quit watching. It just wasn't grabbing me. Same for Weeds. I watched at least 5 seasons of Weeds and was over it. I think part of it is the drug theme that just doesn't apply in my life. Never would I consider making/selling drugs an option to make money.

    I also would rather watch things at home. I have a hard time sitting still for long periods of time, so being at home is better for me than out in public where I'm probably annoying someone else.

  13. I'm with you on a lot of these. Cats, cider, and small ring/wedding for sure. But I do love going to the movies and I tried to quit cable once and freaked out a little. Haha! I didn't watch Breaking Bad (and didn't think I needed to) until the summer before the last half of the very last season. I got sucked in and caught up on all of it in 10 DAYS. It's that good.
