Which "Friends" character am I?

I've spent a lot of time re-watching "Friends" lately. The episodes are short, so it's easy to squeeze one or two into my crazy schedule here and there. Honestly, I could watch Monica, Chandler, Rachel, Ross, Phoebe, and Joey, sort out their random life struggles over and over and never get tired of it.

I remember watching it when it first aired on TV, and I try not to focus on the fact that I'm older than all of these characters (that's just a little sad, considering the fact that they were older than I was when I first watched it). I have a different perspective on the show now, and I find myself relating to it more.

I'm sure there's a BuzzFeed quiz out there that would help me determine which character I am, but I haven't taken it ... yet. In the meantime, I'll analyze it on my own. I found these original character descriptions online:

Hmmm.  Now, let's evaluate.

Like Monica, I have worked hard for what I have. It hasn't been an easy path, but I'm finally feeling somewhat financially secure. I'm also a people pleaser and a complete romantic disaster area. I might even be worse than Monica though -- there is no Richard Burke in my past and I don't really have a Chandler in my life either.

Like Rachel, when I first moved out of my parents' home, I felt equipped to do nothing. I did not know how to do laundry when I went to college, and I've had to learn (often the hard way) how to budget and pay bills. Not a fun time.

Like Phoebe, I like to think I'm sweet and a good soul. I also view Phoebe as the glue that kind of holds the whole gang together. I mean, how many times has she played peacemaker in a conflict? I have a few groups of friends in which I am the reason they all met or for which I am the middle person. Also, I would love to find a Mike Hannigan.

Like Ross, I am a little geeky, quirky, and offbeat. I geek out about different things than Ross does, but I've seen my friends' eyes gloss over when I go on and on about baseball or whatever just as Ross' friends do when he starts talking about paleontology. Also, despite my best efforts, I'm a hopeless romantic. Even though I've had no success in this area, I just can't stop believing in and wanting love and to be loved.

Like Joey, I'm incredibly loyal and I get awkward around people to whom I'm really attracted. Despite his confidence in most areas, Joey struggled with the women he liked beyond just one-night entertainment. I mean, did you see how he interacted with Janine and Rachel (during that span where he has a crush on her)? I also really like food.

Like Chandler, I sit in front of a computer all day in cubicle in a nondescript office building. I'm also incredibly self-deprecating. For some reason, I tend to make jokes or comments about myself (namely my flaws) because I figured I'm beating them to the punch. It's a bad habit, but I've never been able to shake it. In ten seasons, Chandler never did either.

I enjoy the fact that I'm a little bit like each of the characters. Maybe that's why I enjoy the show so much -- I can see myself in all of them.

Which "Friends" character do you relate to the most? And in what ways?

  1. I've always been a self-proclaimed Monica. Down to the one messy closet that she had. Those original descriptions are fun to read.
My favorite episodes are the Thanksgiving ones.

  2. I feel like I'm a combination of all of them too, but mostly Monica and Chandler. I'm smart and a hard worker, but I'm also sarcastic and work at a not-at-all-exciting job.
