Ask me anything!

Via Pinterest
I have been scheduling blog posts for later this week and next week, but I was drawing a blank when it came to today's entry.  So I decided to beg for questions on Twitter and Facebook.  Here are the questions I got.

If you could pick your ideal (but realistic) job what would it be?
I enjoy writing, communication trends, and marketing. I think I'm good at these things too, and I'd enjoy the opportunity to put them to use in an organization that is exciting, inspiring, progressive, and engaging.  I know this is a vague answer, but it's honestly what I want and hope to find someday.

What about your dream/fantasy job?
I would love to be the person who chooses songs for TV shows or movies.  I love music so much. When I'm writing, I'm listening to a particular playlist that I've created for that story.  It worked out really well for "Riffs of Regret." I think it'd be fun to choose songs to fit certain characters or scenes on the screen.

What's your biggest accomplishment to date?
I would have to say the three novels I've published. I truly believe writing is my calling -- whether I do it professionally or just as a hobby. Seeing my work published always makes me proud.

What's one of your guilty pleasures?
Most of my guilty pleasures belong in the trash TV category -- "Teen Mom," "The Bachelor/Bachelorette," and ... paternity test episodes of "Maury."  I know, I know!! It's such trash, but I enjoy it.

What's your biggest pet peeve?
If we're going for a vague one -- rudeness.  I cannot stand when people are inconsiderate of others.

More specifically, I get irritated when people don't use turn signals and walk too slowly in a mall/on a sidewalk.

Oh, and at concerts, I hate it when people talk loudly during the performance.

Who's gonna win "The Bachelorette"?
Not Des, that's for sure.  Oh, that was mean.  Honestly, none of the guys are front-runners right now, but I really like Chris (who was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 2007?!?!) ... as long as he quits it with the poetry. It was cute at first, but it's overdone now.

What is the meaning of life?
I think we're just supposed to be happy and be nice to each other.

Who will win the World Series this year?
It'd be really funny and kind of awesome if the Pirates went all the way.

Why did Yu (Darvish) have highlights anyway?
I blame Geovany Soto.  Is that fair?

This is a bad look, Yu.

This is much better.

What's your favorite meal to make?
When the weather is cooler, I love anything in the crock pot, such as this taco soup I made a few months ago.

I also make these parmesan chicken tenders any chance I get.

In the summer, my favorite meal is sweet corn and BLTs with watermelon for dessert.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
If you ask my mom, I was once determined to be a school bus driver because I thought it'd be fun to drive around all day.  That's what they do, right?  Then I wanted to be a teacher because I thought writing on the chalk board (I'm old) was cool.  I think I decided I wanted to go into writing/journalism/communications at some point in high school.

What is your favorite season?
That's easy ... baseball.  Ha ha.
Really, though, it's probably fall.  I love the colors, the temperatures, college football, and baseball playoffs!

Describe your perfect day.
Sleep in a little, have a cup of coffee while reading blogs, lunch with a good friend, a nice walk or some other relaxing activity, a low-key dinner, a baseball game, and maybe a drink or two with some fun people.  Ultimately, I'm all about a day with no set agenda.

What's your favorite item of clothing?
Hmm.  This is a really good question.  I seem to wear my Todd Carey t-shirt a lot, so I guess I'll go with that.

Thanks to all who submitted questions.  This was a lot of fun, and I hope you learned a little more about me.

If there's something you want to ask me, leave it in the comments and maybe I'll answer some more questions in a future post.

  3. I love this! I think picking music for TV shows would be an awesome job! Who does get to do that anyway? So funny you wanted to be a bus driver when you were a kid. And, I love watermelon for dessert :)
