As I've mentioned before, I recently started a part-time job. Usually, it's just six extra hours each week, but this week I voluntarily picked up another five hours. Plus I have plans for two live theatre shows this week. So basically, every evening I'm either at the library or at the theatre. I'm not complaining, really, as I enjoy all of it. But add that on top of my changing eating habits and morning workouts.
I am tired. I have been in bed before 9:30 every night so far. That won't happen tonight, since I'll be at a show, but I'm sure I'll resume my early bedtime on Thursday.
Amazingly, I do have time for some confessions this week. Are you ready?
Looks like Ryan is ready, so let's get to it.
++ I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.
I have a job. And I don't hate it. But it mostly just pays the bills and gives me a reason to get out of bed in the morning. But is it my calling? I don't think so. Do callings still exist? Or is that a myth?
++ I'm a really bad baseball fan right now.
I love my Texas Rangers with all of my heart, but lately they are very tough to watch. Not that I've been able to watch much with my busy life. But the few innings I have watched have been BRUTAL. So many injuries. That means most of the roster is up from AAA. Sigh. Not the season I envisioned. Then again, I'm probably a little overly optimistic every spring.
++ I really miss cheese.
Remember that clean eating challenge I started? Two days in and I'm doing OK, I still plan to have the occasional beer (just not as much as I'd like) and I don't deprive myself of coffee either (because I drink it black). But my salads are rather bland without some cheese. Just lettuce, protein, and a tomato (when I remember to grab one). Anyone have some healthy ways to flavor up my salads?
++ Some of the claims I handle leave me worried about humanity.
I work in insurance claims. Mostly workers' compensation. Some of the stuff I see just makes me shake my head. I wish I could share, but there's probably some confidentiality thing. Let me just say that at least once a week, I instant message co-workers with -- "In today's edition of WTF is wrong with people ..." At least I have an outlet, right?
++ Someone told me yesterday that I look tan and I think they were lying.
What? I'm a ginger. We don't tan. My skin has two shades -- pink and white. OK, so maybe due to some outdoor activities, I'm a slightly less ghastly shade of white currently, but I am certainly not tan. Ha ha ha ha.
++ I really meant to get up for a run yesterday, but I didn't.
When my alarm went off, I rolled over, looked at the time, and thought about it. I decided sleep was way more appealing. So I pulled the covers back up and went back to sleep for another hour. Slacker, I know. The 10K I'm signed up for this weekend is going to be terrible.
++ Sunday night's Tony Awards were the first time I watched something live on my TV in more than a week.
I'm not even kidding. I haven't been home a lot and when I was home, I was either reading or watching the Rangers on my computer (that doesn't count as live TV). Remember I don't have cable or DVR either, so yeah I've missed two weeks of "The Bachelorette." Oh well. I'll live.
+++++
Well, I need to hit publish on this baby so I can head to work. Weekend, come soon!
My dermatologist told me yesterday, "Wow, you've been in the sun a lot." I almost looked at him like he had 4 eyes. I practically belong to the Cullen family. I now assume that my Derm is the tarot reader of freckles.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about not knowing what I want to be when I grow up. When people ask me what is next, I have no answer!
ReplyDeleteHaha the dog with the blanket is so me!
ReplyDeleteI started a eating challenge yesterday and I feel weak today. I don't know if its the toxins leaving or what. Either way I want a cheeseburger and a sweet tea so bad.
haha that dog and blanket!!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteain't nothing wrong with a little cheese! i eat cheese sometimes - usually with breakfast - and it hasn't hindered my progress at all.
ReplyDeletethanks for linking up!

Vodka and Soda
That dog with the blanket is my new idol.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was doing a metabolic boot camp a few years ago, we were able to have cheese IF it was pepper jack cheese. The heat is a metabolism booster!
That dog with the blanket is exactly how I feel!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been a very diligent baseball fan either lately. I've just been too busy. And there are so many games. It's hard to keep up sometimes.
I know I'm late posting this comment, but try black pepper sprinkled on your salads, or lemon juice! Might help with the lack of cheese :) And a little bit of cheese isn't too bad, maybe not every day if you really want to stay away from it.
