Show Us Your Books: May

Life According to Steph

This link-up really doesn't need to be plural for me this month. I only read one book in May.  One.  I'm not proud of this, but ... I have no good excuse or explanation.

I confess I have a really hard time with non-fiction books. This one was no exception. I struggled to get through it and admittedly skimmed through some parts so I could finish it faster. I watched the movie as well (since books turned into movies is my reading goal for the year), and it was much more engaging.  Maybe because of George Clooney?

I really need to pick up my reading pace soon, as I am 18 books behind for my GoodReads challenge.  Yikes!

  1. i struggle with non fiction as well, i just can't get into them like fiction. i have 'read' a couple by listening to the audiobook instead, and that seems to help. i haven't seen that movie yet though, perhaps i should watch it and skip the book!

  2. I struggle through them too. You're not alone!

I hope your book is on my linkup next month! I am trying to read that between now and then

  3. I have a tough time with non-fiction too. Sometimes they get their hooks in me but more often I seem to struggle through them.

  4. My struggle with nonfiction really depends on what the content is. I've read nonfiction books that I absolutely loved and others that were like pulling teeth! I have found that listening to nonfiction books with my Audible subscription is much more enjoyable!

  5. I, as with the previous posters, have a hard time with non-fiction sometimes as well, depending on the content matter. For me, it brings back negative memories of college and grad school, of all the reading required for my courses that I had not choice but to read. Memoirs, autobiographies, biographies, travel memoirs, and certain micro histories are better for me in terms of non-fiction. I love the movie The Monuments Men and considered the book once or twice, but decided to just leave well enough alone. Have a good one!
